Alex McColl Bio

My name is Alex McColl and I am a 4th Degree Black belt with the TAGB and TKDI, a qualified Instructor, referee and umpire. I was a member of the TAGB’s National Demonstration Team and have won numerous British Titles in patterns and sparring, and various World Medals.

I started Tae Kwon Do with the TAGB when I was 12, along with my mum, two brothers and my sister, we trained often for fun, but I was never any good as a child. It was a great way to meet new people and travel the country with my family. My sister went on to become a World Champion for the ITF in every division (patterns, sparring, teams, destruction etc) for junior, cadet and adult, and my mum who has had many national titles including British Champion is now on the Coaching team for their respective squad.

Only when I got older I realised how much I enjoyed TKD and really strived to improve, after getting my Black belt in 2004 I had several years off training, when I finally returned I was determined to get better, not for anyone else, but for myself. I trained really hard ever since and I have improved greatly. I have become a leading member of the Demonstration Team performing all over the country in front of thousands of spectators, I am currently the British Champion for Patterns, and medalled at the Worlds in musical patterns. I have gained a good reputation nationally for the more advanced kicking techniques and musical demonstrations which I am proud of. My aim now is too pass on what I have learned to the next generations of super kickers!
